Creep

“Creep” or “shingling” refers to the fact that the trim margins of inner pages within the center of a saddle-stitched book are narrower than pages in outer signatures (see illustration below). The amount of creep is dependent on the number of pages and the weight of the paper.

Cummings Printing will now compensate for creep. Pages will be adjusted at the imposition stage.

If you have already compensated for creep at the design stage please contact your customer service representative.
